When a tiny water droplet hits a scorching hot quartz tube, it causes “thermal shock.” The glass doesn’t just get wet—it cracks. Tiny micro-cracks form, and eventually, the tube just gives up and ruptures. We fixed this by using heavy-duty sealing gaskets and housings that actually keep the moisture out. By keeping the electrical contacts bone-dry, you don’t have to worry about short circuits or that nasty corrosion that eats away at your connections. A small trade-off for a lot of peace of mind Now, there is one thing to keep in mind. Because we’ve put the element inside a protective enclosure, there’s a physical barrier between the heat and your workpiece. It changes the heat distribution a little bit. You might find you need to tweak your PID settings or just scoot the heater a bit closer to the target to get the same punch as an open lamp. It’s a small adjustment for a huge jump in durability.
