When you’re designing an infrared heater for a bathroom, you run into a annoying problem: the fight between getting enough heat and not blinding everyone in the room. Standard short-wave lamps are powerful, but they emit a harsh, glaring light. It’s a bit much for a home, and if you’ve got a baby in the bath, that kind of brightness is a real concern. So, we changed how the light works. Keeping eyes safe We don’t just want a “soft glow.” We want to actually stop the blue light that stresses out your retinas. To do that, we use specific coatings and filaments that push the energy toward the long-wave spectrum. The result? You get the warmth, but the blinding glare is gone. We also pick glass that blocks UV and blue light while letting the actual heat rays slide right through. It’s a much more comfortable experience. Dealing with steam and splashes Bathrooms are brutal on electronics. Between the steam and the occasional splash, things can go south quickly. We seal everything up with high-temp gaskets and waterproof housings so you don’t have to worry about short circuits. We use quartz glass for the bulb because it can handle the quick jump from cold to hot without cracking. One quick tip: check your wiring. These lamps pull a lot of power the second you flip the switch. If your circuit can’t handle that initial surge, you’re going to be tripping your breakers. The trade-off Here’s the honest part. When you filter out that harsh light, you lose a little bit of the “throw” distance. You won’t feel the heat as far away as you would with a raw industrial lamp. But we fixed that by tweaking the reflectors. We shaped them to focus the beam straight down. That way, you stay warm right where you need it, and your eyes stay relaxed.
